The Sony J30 and J3 are PLAYBACK ONLY decks. Used for dubbing or ingest in post-production the two decks offer flexibility in a time where formats and workflows are fluid. Both decks can play Digital Betacam, Betacam SP, Betacam SX and MPEG IMX footage. The advantage of the J30 is it’s FireWire 400 output port which makes for easy capture to non-linear edit systems and also it’s SDI output for digital capture and monitoring.
