Speed Skating with Stephen Colbert

So, this is happened a wee while ago but it’s funny, we were thrilled to be a part of it and, well, it gives me an excuse to talk about the gear we used on the shoot:

Working with Stephen and the team from The Colbert Report is always an absolute pleasure.  We went out to Utah the day after Christmas (that’s Boxing day for all you readers in the UK) and met up with the team for the shoot.  Now that Comedy Central has an HD channel (check your local listings!) they’re shooting with the Panasonic HDX900 in 1080i — we took one with us and the local cameraman used his own.  We also took out with us a Panasonic HVX200 as a third b-roll camera, a GoPro HD wearable camera and the Canon 5DMkII, although that was mainly for grins.

The GoPro was a fun addition to the shoot, giving us the opportunity to get some shots from Stephen’s point of view as well as, well, making him look a little silly.  Plus, it was able to survive numerous drops, falls and general abuse as Stephen stumbled and bumbled his way along the track.  A really fantastic piece of kit.

The shoot was a great success, we were really proud to be a part of it and we’re looking forward to working with the team at The Colbert Report again in the near future.  Finally, here’s a quick clip from the Canon 5DMkII that we grabbed during a quiet moment on set:
